This caption was included with Christopher’s photo,  “After initially trying to chase us away – he claimed he’d sue us for interfering with his business – Jim eventually decided to trust us and let us take pictures of him and his shop. He talked about how the area had changed in the past 52 years, the racetrack directly across from his shop is now a strip mall, and “developers are trying to turn everything into apartment buildings”. He handed me a business card which listed his phone as “Elgin 1-5130″, the way phone numbers were given 50 years ago. Jim was in his shop that Sunday morning to watch one of his favorite televangelists while he just passed time. As we were leaving, he mentioned that he married his wife after only having known her for two weeks. They had been married for more than 50 years, and she had passed away just 30 days previously. “
